1. Intentional TouchTM - Delivering Health Care to Survivors of Sexual Abuse - Basic Certification
- Phase I
The statistics on sexual abuse are staggering. They lead us to the conclusion that a significant number of people are suffering from the injuries and trauma that sexual abuse causes. Therefore there is a strong likelihood that you will encounter survivors of sexual abuse in your bodywork practice.
This 34-hour class is for practicing health professionals who are interested in how to work with survivors of sexual abuse. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, serious long-term illness, chronic mental, emotional, and/or physical pain are common results of sexual trauma.
In the class students receive pertinent information, tools and guided practice needed to effectively and confidently contribute to the healing of the original wounding from sexual abuse. Through hands-on exercises, the student learns to apply the principals and tools from the course to their existing practice.
This course is the first part of a three phase curriculum that leads to two levels of certification in Intentional Touch™ - Delivering Health Care to Survivors of Sexual Abuse. Phase I can be taken without committing to Phase II. Phase I is a viable class in and of itself and an excellent way to acquire essential tools and experience in working with this client population safely and effectively. Class includes theory, practice, case study, and supervised application.
Phase I training the student acquires an understanding and working knowledge of:
The survivor of sexual abuse as a client
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Chronic mental, emotional, and/or physical pain
Pre and post surgical care for survivors of sexual abuse
“Trauma Lifting Treatment”
“Treatment for Chronic Pain”

material, and designing sessions
so that they are working progressively
and efficiently with the client.
We address ways to promote the
partnership between alternative
