The word MASSAGE is derived from
the Greek word massein, to knead. Massage is
manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, using a
series of manual techniques aimed at achieving or
increasing health and wellness.
MASSAGE
THERAPY uses a series of actions aimed at
achieving or increasing health and wellness. The main
technique is manual soft tissue manipulation, including
holding, causing movement, and/or applying pressure to
specific muscles of the body. Massage therapy improves
functioning of the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular,
skeletal, and nervous systems.
The word THERAPY is derived from
the Greek word therapeia, meaning treatment.
THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE indicates a
training beyond technique which includes an
understanding of specific health conditions, as well as
if massage is indicated and, if so, how to safely and
effectively apply massage to assist the healing.
Therapeutic Massage assists in pain reduction and
management; promoting resolution of many serious health
conditions. In many cases Therapeutic Massage improves the
rate at which the body recovers from injury and illness.
